FIRM HISTORY

AVENS + HEATH was established in 2020 at a time when the world was changing, and social gatherings moved outdoors. Our initial projects were mainly high-end private residential spaces, but since then our portfolio has expanded to include adaptive reuse senior living, and high-rise, multi-use development. The founder, Caitlin Olson, has over 20 years of experience in the field during which time she has worked on a diverse collection of projects. Her background as a fine artist and illustrator informs her work throughout each step of the creative process.

MISSION

The mission at AVENS + HEATH is to create beautiful, unique outdoor spaces for our clients. Landscape architecture is a science and an art. We create living, built enviornments that need to respond to climate conditions, manage stormwater, and provide sustainable ecosystems for plants to thrive. We strive to balance all these while curating each space to support and inspire the people using them.

TEAM + TALENTS

Our team includes a small group of landscape architects and designers, each of whom brings a unique skill set to the collective. We are fully versed in all regional jurisdicational requirements and approval processes. We are liscensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia, and are experienced with Green Area Ratio (GAR) and LEED certification requirements, and Best Management Practices. We work with a vetted group of horticulturists, masons, contractors and craftsmen to help ensure the vision we develop is materialized to the highest standard.
